


Janet George Legacy Scholarship
A joint initiative by The George Siblings and My Sistah’s Keeper, LLC. (MSK).

Nea Onnim means “He who does not know.” It is from the Akan proverb, “Nea onnim no sua a ohu,” which translates as, “When he who does not know learns, he gets to know.”
It is a symbol of life-long education, and continued quest for knowledge.
Purpose: To celebrate the living legacy of Janet George, a woman who exemplifies leadership, passion, and unwavering community commitment. This scholarship is designed to empower the next generation of young women leaders who embody her values and vision. Annually, The Janet George Legacy Scholarship will aid a young black woman in her pursuit of education.
Scholarship Overview:
Award Amount: $1000

Eligibility:
Black women, ages 17-25, residing in central Ohio
Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in college, trade, or certification program
Must show leadership and service in her school, community, or faith-based setting
Submit:
A 100-200 word essay: What are your educational goals, and how do you demonstrate leadership, passion, and community commitment?
A 75-100 word essay: How will your future plans build on Janet George's values and legacy?
A signed recommendation letter from a teacher, faith leader, or mentor
